Etsy Shop - My New Venture

I have toyed with the idea of opening an Etsy shop for quite awhile now.  Last weekend, while making lots of new hairclips for Eleanor, I had a couple people ask about buying them. I finally decided I just need to do it.  All too often I am out with Eleanor and somebody asks me about her hair bow or outfit and asks if I have an Etsy shop.  Who knows how many sales I have lost.  So, I did it last week.  Creations for Eleanor officially opened on Etsy and I have a Facebook Fan Page.
I have already had 5 sales and I am so excited!  I am adding new items everyday, and in the next few months will be adding custom clothing for children.  So, if you get a chance please hop over and see what I have...and feel free to like Creations for Eleanor on Facebook.  I love to do custom orders, just let me know what you want.  All orders are 10% off until February 29th, use coupon code Feb2012.  Here are a couple of pictures of what I have.

Weight Watchers Week 4

I never posted my weight loss numbers last Monday for two reasons.  First, I started my new Etsy shop (more about that soon) and second, I did not lose any weight.  On a positive note, I did not gain any either!  During week 3, I had two meetings for Church at restaurants and also a Church potluck that Sunday.  Healthy choices at those meals were limited.  So, all in all, I was actually thrilled to NOT gain any weight.  Also, having lost 9.5 pounds in my first 2 weeks I understood it was going to slow down.
So, onto week 4.  I am continuing to feel awesome.  I am down to drinking only 2 cups of coffee per day, the rest is all decaf.  I have tons more energy, and I have noticed that I am fitting into clothing that I had not in quite some time.  I am continuing to cook lots of fabulous meals from Skinny Taste .  Some of my favorite new ones were

For Valentine's Day, a bit early, Eleanor really wanted a chocolate cake.  I used the Skinny Taste Chocolate Cake recipe.  This cake is wonderful because you use a box mix.  It is denser/fudgier because there is no oil or egg.  I love it!  I used her cream cheese frosting recipe which I also liked, however in the future I will probably add more powdered sugar.  Here is a picture of our lovely cake, decorated as Eleanor saw fit.
The cake has stayed moist, especially since I am keeping it in the fridge.  A couple of years ago there was an incident when I made a cake with cream cheese frosting and ended up with HORRID food poisoning that hospitalized me.  The doctor assured that it was a fluke, however I will always keep cream cheese frosting in the fridge...mental, yes.

Valentine's Day

I have to say that until Eleanor was born, I never really cared about Valentine's Day.  I have no personal issue with the holiday, however it has just never been a big deal to me.  Even after she was born it was no biggie, until she started preschool 2 years ago.  Now that she knows it is a holiday and they do fun things at school to prepare for it, she gets very excited for it.  We don't do anything spectacular for Valentines day.  I let Eleanor pick out what we have for dinner and I usually make a heart shaped red velvet cake.  This year, because of my quest to lose weight, I am going to try this recipe for lower fat red velvet cupcakes.  One fun thing that I started this year was a daily treat each day starting February 1.  I did find the general idea for this on Pinterest, however I can no longer find it.  I bought this mailbox at Target in the dollar section and had the wood candlestick on hand from other craft purchases.
I then used my Silhouette and some red vinyl and cut out some fun Valentines themed shapes.
 painted the candlestick red
applied the vinyl to the mailbox and glued it to the candlestick

I stocked up on lots of inexpensive ($1 and under) items to put in the mailbox each day.  Here is an example of what she got the first day.
All totaled, the whole project with the little treats cost me under $15 and it has really been lots of fun to see how excited Eleanor gets each morning.
